I believe that the comparison was made between 5712G and 5726A because they appear to be the same -- both are in leather strap and have same case appearance although one is in white gold (5712) and the other in SS (5726).
My vote basically goes to the 5712G for the following reasons:
1. Slimmer case
2. Uniqueness of the dial
3. Practicality of the complication
Having said that, the 5726A is a great watch. It's so happen that I preferred the 5205G not because of the metal but more on the uniqueness of the two-toned dial, the pierced lug, the concave bezel, and the calendar aperture location, all of which IMHO can become a collection Item features 20 to 30 years from now.
