It has also caused me to carry out my own research on the threes pieces in question.
I am nowhere near confident or an expert in the models concerned to offer an opinion, so I shall just continue to follow the thread.

Whilst the others have made very valid observations about both references and indicate that it is preferable to go for a modern rather than vintage I do think,for me at least,part of the thrill of vintage watches besides finding the model if it is rare is...

Wearing vintage is a total different experience to a modern piece. As much as I love the 5970, it lacks the appeal and allure of a 3448 when presented to me. Maybe 5 years from now, the 5970 will have the similar appeal as 3448 *CL
