but it's not a fair fight in the least. Patek makes far more perpetual's of any design than they've made rattrapantes of all designs. The 3448 is a lovely watch, but I don't see "magic" in it. For wearing purposes, rather than going in the vault, never to be touched, I'd almost rather the 5396, which has all the advantages of a modern watch, and pocket the difference 
As for the 5790, it's never been my favorite piece, I find it too "chunky", perhaps from the stacking of the QP module.

Whilst the others have made very valid observations about both references and indicate that it is preferable to go for a modern rather than vintage I do think,for me at least,part of the thrill of vintage watches besides finding the model if it is rare is...

Wearing vintage is a total different experience to a modern piece. As much as I love the 5970, it lacks the appeal and allure of a 3448 when presented to me. Maybe 5 years from now, the 5970 will have the similar appeal as 3448 *CL
