I share your sentiments regarding the 3970, but I am happy that they made "that much". It is one of the very few complicated pieces from PP that is still available (even when not new) for a wider group of connoisseurs.

look at the 5020 and you have an answer 5020 is rare and expensive but it's nothing more than a 3970 in another case 3970 must be the most cheap complicated Patek available, if they made it in the size I prefer I would go for it but I can't give that much...

Thanks for sharing with us such iconic pieces. As someone earlier mentioned the 3970 2nd series gives us ordinary folk a chance to own something so special yet doesn't cost our entire fortune.
