So much time for the 5167

More often than not, the 5167 ends up on my wrist. It is a long way from being a complicated Patek. It is a long way from being an elegant Patek. In fact, for so many of the reasons that Patek has distinguished itself, this watch stands out as being very un-Patek! I would guess that the 5167 polarizes many Patek collectors. Yet, for me, I very much enjoy wearing it. I find that it is comfortable in virtually any circumstances and that includes water, casually or even going out in the evening. OK, maybe its wrong for a business meeting but since I don't do those any more, who cares about covering business. Yep, for me, the 5167 represents a fantastic all-purpose Patek. I appreciate that many tend to dismiss it relative to the Nautilus. I actually disagree. For me, the Nautilus is a watch that is trying too hard to be a sports watch. The Aquanaut, on the other hand, is indisputably a sports watch and it does so in an easy and relaxed way. Taste is always a personal thing....there is never a right or wrong....but for my taste I take the Aquanaut every time. There are certainly some gaps in my collection of Pateks, but I am pleased this is not one of them!
