I would pay much more for 5196P than 5035P. Why: I like 5196P much more and in fact I think 5035P looks a bit ugly (my opinion) and I would not pay much for this watch. This is a personal judgement and has absolutely nothing to do with the complications. ... 

Of course almost everything is a "matter of personal preferences". But these personal preferences, why someone choses A over B, is what is interesting. In your case, you rate design over technical complexity. Some people do it the other way 'round, if you...

have been in production for much longer than 5196? So perhaps simply more supply out there? Moreover 5035 has already been replaced while 5196 is still current? Having said that, I do agree the relative pricing is a bit interesting!
