Several points
PP uses a very fine oil but thin oil which tends to dry quicker than oils used by other brands. Regular wearing helps prevents sticking problems. These watches are meant to be worn, perhaps more so than others. Periodically putting the watch on a winder would help but be sure it rotates count clock wise.
Winding these watches 40 times is really not good for the movement. PP in fact suggests 8 winds. Over winding automatic movements can strip gears sometimes to where the watch will not wind in any way. Automatic watches, due to the internal clutch which prevents over winding the watch automatically, are not meant to be manually wound. In fact some makers are proud of their new innovative movements which allow for both manual or automatic winding regularly.
This reference does not have a dynometric crown so it can overwound manually. I know the dynometric crown as is on the 5170 is only on manual wind watches.
It may be me but PP did the right thing here right out of the box. I have had issues with my watches. I call PP and send the watch off to them if needed. I would not go public on such matters until and unless you feel you are not treated right by PP.
Sticking date on my 5127R

I had the same with my Aquanaut 5167...
About three years after the purchase. So the warranty had expired and it cost me 1000euro+ to repair. However, the movement is not the same, so it may just be a coincidence. Frustrating, though.

...hardly believe that PP didn't handle this simple date function in this rather new watch...if it is occasionally worn in careful manner. hope you could get positive solution from PP soon.

Got my watch back in less than 9 weeks. It's all fixed and running perfectly. Very happy with the service. My watch was out of warranty but Patek fixed it free of charge and gave it complete service. Very happy with everything.

I was only told that the watch needed complete service. It looks like this is the answer that most of us got when this happened. Someone here said he has the reason but never told me what it was.

The people up at Henri Stern are very nice and I'm pleased to hear they are going to take care of the issue. Though we want and expect our timepieces to run perfectly from time to time there are issues with them.
