Have the same problem... I dont know their history and their value. But i have these watches. They are extremely different from the picture of 3970. If youll answer on my message Ill send you the picture. Please, write on my e-mail.

I'm not found this model on the Patek website. I don't know the date of production, but i remember was all trasparent (glass in the backside). Thank you.

When they introduced the 3970 in the mid 80's there was also a ref. 3971. The 3970 came with a metal back, the 3971 with crystal back. After a while they were replaced by the 3970e, wich comes with both a metal and a crystal back. Regards, Joram

image from Antiquorum The dial seems to be the same as the 3970e. I cannot discuss values here, but it's pretty rare so it should have a little premium compared to the regular 3970e. Regards, Joram...

I bought one from NY for $50 in Chinatown!!! Its a silver metal band. Same serial #, its a fake forsure but it looks awesome and has all the real specs with it... Don't get ripped off!!!
