The texture on the annual calendar 4947 is indeed very interesting. Has this pattern appeared on others previously? How does the green for 5711 look in the metal? I heard that it is very dark.
Yes the vertical and horizontal cross brushings, as well as the deeper shade of blue on the 4947 is really quite nice and I have not seen it in other Pateks before.
Patek calls it a "Shantung" effect. I guess they are referring to the Chinese brush effect in lacquered Chinese furniture. The olive green of the 5711 is similar to the shade of the blue in the previous 5711A ... I say similar in that it has a bit of a "d...
The Shantung effect is currently on the Ladies' 7300/1200R-010 and 7300/1201R-001.
It's nice, but personally, I find it quite feminine and can't wait for a 4947/1A with a dial that's decidedly more masculine.

I just looked up the Twenty-4 models you mentioned on the Patek website, and found it interesting that the dials are described as "vertical and horizontal satin-finished dial" vs "vertical and horizontal satin-finished dial ("shantung" finish)" for 4947. ...

It seems Singapore is much faster in receiving them than Europe.. The 5711 dial seems much more interesting in your photos than I have seen before. More dark and mysterious
Ah yes thank you ! ... "dark and mysterious" is the more appropriate way to describe the hue of the green or the blue dials of the 5711A (as opposed to my previous reply to Gordon using the description dirty/muddy)
As mentioned, the olive green dial is indeed a chameleon and I find my photos looking very different in different light and angles.

Thank you -- I'm by no means supposed to know all regular references (!), but if I have to guess chances are this 5298 LE is only available locally and for some particular celebration, as it's not part of the official 2021 roster (including LEs).
In any case, very beautiful alternative to the standard black-dialed version -- any interested collector should definitely query some local ADs! ;-) Cheers.
