Patek 5164 pushers
Jan 25, 2021,17:24 PM
I bought 5164 a year ago new from an AD. The watch had to go to HSWA in NY for service last month as the top GMT pusher had become too stiff to push. Patek ‘corrected the movement and replaced the pushers’ as part of the service under warranty.
I don’t travel a lot. However, I used to play with the pushers from time to time when I am winding the watch or setting time. But now I am a little reluctant and wonder how robust is the GTM pusher mechanism in 5164.
To the 5164 owners, care to share your experience about the use of GMT pushers?

The AD opened the seal infront of me. I bought it at end of 2019.
Does not sound good

Looks like the the chrono pusher mechanism in 5164 are not robust. Most watch owners rarely use the chrono features. The chronograph mechanism is therefore not put to strain at all. More so in Pateks where watch owners may be petrified to operate their ex...

I have a 5164 steel and looking to pick a 5164 rose gold pre owned. Didn’t know I couldn’t post at two forums. Next time will ask permission. Or perhaps share service/purchase invoices of my watches with you first to ask whether I can create a post.
Thank you

My intention is not to speak ill of the brand or get any sort of leverage on the ADs. My experience with Patek has been below average after owning 3 of their products. Also not sure how I can get any leverage on the ADs in today’s environment when Nautilu...
I'm just suggesting you use them regularly

Rubber seals often feel “sticky” when new and they loosen or lose that stickiness when they wear a bit. Like breaking in a new pair of shoes. Pushers are designed for constant use; thus prolonged inactivity, whether on a chronograph or other function such...
Interesting and thank you

I thought there was something wrong with the movement itself when the upper pusher became almost stiff like rock to push. And I used to engage the pushers regularly during the last year. Will keep your advice in mind and keep using the pushers.
It happened ...

... to my 5990 where the chrono pusher was a little stiff right out the seal. After five years, one of the pushers no longer trigger the chrono start/stop. It was my daily wear for a long time and I travelled a lot with it. I had it service and it’s all g...
I use my chrono all the time, I hope it will work forever

I found it strange that someone posted Patek owners are afraid to use their chrono's. I use mine all the time, every day, at least once. I expect it to last forever, I have chrono's that are twenty years old, never serviced and work perfectally. No reason...
