Does passion always have logic?
Pateks are so understated that I seldom get asked about them. Though I am wearing something that costs maybe 3 times the AP ROO or blinged out Cartier / Rolex of the other guy.
Knowing that you own an exceptional timepiece (mostly in your own opinion), and that you bought it to satisfy your own qualified tastes (rather than making a public statement) has its own satisfaction. It is not for everyone, and that too has its own satisfaction.
Having said that, I also have to say that Pateks do command premiums over other top brands which sometimes even avid PP collectors or users may find difficult to justify without being biased towards the brand.
