Oh no! Standards are falling! People need to be more careful.

Saw this during Monterey Car Week at the local Patek Philippe dealer... Oh no! Assuming that this mishap was caused by a jewelry store employee (can't imagine a customer can open the display case), it shows how rushed some employees can be.
Just goes to say... Jewelry stores put a lot of wear and tear on their inventory and on their equipment. Every day, watches have to be moved out of the safe to be put on display, every night, moved out of the display case back into the safe. I've seen jewelry stores open and close many times, and I always get a feeling that they're going for speed rather than for care of the merchandise. And how come I hardly ever see any jewelry store employees handling the merchandise with gloves anymore? Times have changed...
5 Star hotel porters handle luggage without gloves. Valet parking at the finest establishments park cars without gloves. Jewelry store employees don't use gloves to handle the merchandise... Sommeliers at 3 Michelin star restaurants don't even decant bottles of wine anymore... Standards are falling! Even at our favorite brands and favorite establishments. The finest high cuisine restaurant in the entire country I live in doesn't even use real silverware anymore.
Why do you think standards are falling? And what should be done to hold up standards?
