New in the house …5059J
Feb 27, 2023,15:23 PM
Since a quite a while I feel more and more appealed by yellow gold. So when a collector friend offered me 2 of his Patek for one of my vintage Rolex I was happy to make the trade.
This 5059J is one of the two and I really like and enjoy this reference. Pretty much old-fashioned looking at first glance I quickly fell in love with the size of 36 mm and its thick proportions.
The retrograde date indication looks really special to me and ticks a box in my collection. So does the officer‘s case with its straight lugs and hinged case back.
This watch is a true gem in my eyes and I’m wearing it often and with a lot of joy.

...the 'flatter' dial on this is preferable to me...less frilly. I passed on a 5050J many years ago and it still haunts me...
Congrats!

What was the 2nd Patek? (Btw, must have been quite a vintage Rolex to swing that trade....nicely done 👍)
