Yes 5270R, 5270P and 5270J are indeed siblings with similar dial/case parentage but very different characters

Like yourself I was surprised but pleased that Patek released a J version (which I assume will conclude the 5270 series). The J is beautifully classic and discrete with its white dial. Your note about Patek recognising its past with this J release is insightful.
The 5270P remains special by virtue of its salmon dial, platinum and Arabic hour numerals which gives it a modern feel. I do however wish the hour and minute hands were shaped differently. They are, for want of a better description, a little "fat in the centre" for the accompanying slim form Arabic hour numerals.
The 5270R is a little too glitzy for myself. The pairing of rose gold case and bracelet with the black dial is however sharp and good looking. Like yourself I like the fact that the calendar aperture background is black in theme with the black dial, much like the Lange 1 "Darth".
It will be interesting how the next series of Patek PCCs will look like. Hopefully they willupdate the split second PCC series as well. The case for the 5204 is rather disproportionate and unwieldy on the wrist.
Cheers!
