Patek Philippe

Hi, All Need some suggestions here. I am planning to add one more piece of Patek in to my collection for my X'mas gift. I am debating a 5960R or 5170J (let's just say you must choose one) So far in my collection: 5980A /Blue (Daily wear) 5070G 5970G I lov... 

IMHO most modern chrono in a gentlemen's watch case, for the big 3 brands. Plus a annual calendar to boot, and cheaper then the 5170 on top of that. The last time you bought the 5970, you had a child right? So can I assume more congrats this time round to... 

As I can assume you like to wear sporty watch every day. I think that in such a good set of watches should be the one for special event (besides 5970 of course). 5960 is wonderful piece but its style is between 5980 and 5970 - as sporty as classical. But ... 

Answer to these questions and the choice will become obvious... Fx

I find 5070 has nicer dial and more balance, compare with classic 5170, so in this case, I would go for 5960 all the way, Ed

Why don't you go for 5960R? From your collection I feel that you might prefer bigger watch.

For me the 5170J rare Patek. When I see a Billboard on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles advertising Patek Philippe showing a picture of the 5960 it becomes to mass produced. Like a Rolex Daytona. Not very special sought after Patek. I see them for sale at a... 

At least two on offer to me now. On a popular website, I can pm you, there are 10 for sale by different dealers. 31 x 5970s and 29 x 5070s and 36 x 5960s. And do you think the 5170 will not make it to a billboard advert? - Best, Horo

Also, it does not mean that just because there are more avails of one model versus another, that equates to the lesser avails as superior! I am just perplexed, especially for a model that is relatively new, and volumes can only grow!! Love the watch for w...

I don;t think both pieces are tough to get from the AD or from collector's market...although that's what will tell you, but if you show interests they will find you one in 1 week or two.

Have a look at a certain European website - 29 X 5070s for sale as well. A quick chat with any watch dealer and you can have any of the metals within the same day, all at sensible prices. I stated before, people are fans of what they own and not objective... 

There is a price difference between a Rolex Daytona and a Patek 5960. Please remember that most people do not earn the price of a 5960 in an entire year of working. So please do not be worried about seeing every Tom, Dick or Harry wearing a Patek 5960 wal...

Your collection is probably more in need of a 5130P World Time. It's not a chronograph, but at least there's a button you can push to interact with the watch. If you already have a WorldTime Patek Philippe in your collection, then you should consider the ... 

I used to owned a 5130P.....Enjoyed it for a year and got myself a 5070G. If I ever get a world time again, would be 5110P

why get 5170. To me, 5070 is more interesting, more special. As indicated by other forum members, modern day PP watches have no limit on production. In the old days, it is limited by technology, not anymore. Even 5970, you can always find it in dealers, a... 

its a really interesting and important watch- and I looks great in this configuration. The 5170, I think, would look better in a white metal. Im not crazy about the current look.

As at this present moment, the 5170 doesn't do anything for me. That said I would rather get the P over the R

Pick 5960R . I don't think those of us buying 5070 or 5170 had to ask for their choice . Greetings from France

Since u already have a very varied collection, I would go for the 5960R. This is the missing one in your collection. U already own the 5070 and that is a more desirable piece than the 5170. Get a Perpetual caledner like the 5159 or the 5496.. That will ab...

I know of two 5170J that were currently available as of two weeks ago at two different AD's. Seems like a coincidence that the two AD's I buy from both have them even though they are in geographically distinct locations! As such, I don't think this refere... 

The price point on the 5170j is high and that affects demand, no doubt, even for a Patek.
