It's relative...
...to your personal style. You say that you're gonna use the piece as an everyday wearer, however, that isn't really a sufficient enough to description to help you decide. If you're a more casual, dressed down, t shirt and jeans kind of guy, possibly even shorts depending on where you live, then perhaps the Aquanaut would be the appropriate piece for you. If however, you're a little more conservative and wear Oxford shirts and brogues on a daily basis, then the 1921 would be the piece to get. Of course, that is only my personal opinion if you were to ask me, frankly you can do whatever you want sartorially with either watches.
Now, from a more analytical perspective, I would personally go for the 1921. Something about the sideswept dial is so elegantly beautiful, yet at the same time unique and somewhat edgy; the perfect mix between fashionable and sobriety. I also like the fact that it is a reissue of the 1930's drivers watches which I find to be very attractive, and love this (more) modern take on it. Personally, I've never liked the Aquanaut family. I've always perceived it as a wrong move by Patek with it, which is essentially a downgrade from a Nautilus. Plus, rubber has no place on a Patek, period. Of course, again, that is just my own opinion. If you must get a sporty watch from Patek, then go for the 5711 or 5712, forget the 5167.

these are very different watches, I am a patek fan and do not own any vc, however in this case, if I had to choose, I would go with American. very classy watch with a lot of character.

I would select the VC.
I prefer the appearance of the VC far more than the Aquanaut. It's edgy but at the same time, conservative.
I had a 5065 at at one point and loved the watch........
so I would go with the 5167r. The VC is nice but that off center dial would take some getting used to. If you go with the 5167r I would also get a nice leather strap for the watch. Tony
