I must say that your last comment (detailed descriptions) is something I share as well. I imagine it is also a question of taking into account clients who are not as interested in watchmaking as we are here and that too much text of this kind can be unappealing? Maybe they have to balance the text's lengh in order to match every type of customers... I don't know.
About the educational part, they have quite a good material (videos and articles) about Craftmanship, finishing, dials etc... but maybe that making a better link between the models and these educational materials that are placed in other sections of the site would be something to work on.

New PATEK.COM website format
Hi everyone, Patek Philippe has just launched a new format for its website, here: It has been implemented to be more user-friendly with the modern devices like smartphones of course, as more than 50% of all users browse with them, but also tablets etc.....

One big issue with the dealer locator in the US
it only lists the formal name of the stores (alphabetically) then gives the address where dealers are located. But a watch buyer can’t know in advance if a store sell Pateks so you don’t know who to look for. That leaves 90 stores to search through. You c...

This was long due. Great they recognize the amount of traffic coming through mobile devices and make the navigation more user friendly. Now as far as retail prices go I am sure it will create some friction as the local price is a function of import duties...

Then again, I shouldn't blame the website, I should blame the internet speed! I like it's much more media rich. I wished there were more individualized stories and descriptions for each piece. I also wished it were more educational.
