As for the "prototype" thing: I imagine they made the change from the original black dial to the new white one they made for the client and, when they came to modify/realize the new papers, they thought "how can we mention this with the meaning it is not a regular reference".

And they used the word "prototype"; not really aiming at the case or the white dial precisely, but just to say that the overall is not standard and that it has been customed.
