I think Patek has produced more, & better Grand Complic and Complic 1989-2009 vs 1839-1989
To me In studying Patek Philippes Wristwatch, and even Pocketwatch production from 1839-1989 and then 1989-2009 I have to say that I think that the complicated and grand complicated wristwatches and Pocket Watches (Save Graves Watch) are far superior and more abundant than any watches produced in the prior 150 year history of Patek Philippe. Sure the Mechanical wind world time watches are better, and the hourglass, and eiffel tower and banana watch are great. The water resistance that patek puts on most it's watches, the regular production of tourbillions, the regular production 5004, the ultra thin 5959, the extra functions in the perpetual calendar chronograph. These are amazing achievements for Patek Philippe I think in the past 20 years. Certainly the Auctions are playing a much more positive part in Wristwatches where in the past they were there to merely inflate the prices of watches where today they are directly competing with the retailers, as it should be.
honestly somewhat baffled at the tremendous interest in Patek Philippe pre 1989 (or pre Ref# 3940-1985). I will say that I think the biggest mistake Patek has made in the past 20 years is producing too many of their watches with Automatic movements, and not more mechanical windup movements.
Any Thought Provoking, and informative Comments would be much appreciated?

I can't agree more with the last comment. I've been collecting PP watches for 10 yrs. My early purchases have not gained in value as much as the latter ones, but at the same time, the latter ones have lost more value since the recession. Not to say that t...
