Facts 1/ We know from the Autumn 2019 Patek Magazine that new Calatravas are coming. 2/There is the new movement 26-330 3/It is meant to appeal to "younger" buyers Speculation 1/It seems unlikely there will be a steel time-and-date-only model calatrava? 2... 

...with a new ultra-thin micro rotor automatic movement. Date and no date versions. Unusual dial options would be a plus...maybe not something esoteric like meteor, but something out of the ordinary.

but it would be nice to see a totally new, thin auto and manual movement, perhaps sized up a bit.

If it’s something nice, the only way to get it is though a gray dealer at 50% premium.

To resucitate the dress watch through a younger buyer. Looking like ressence perhaps. Very minimalist. Perhaps extra complication like days of the week or off centred sub dials

Where were we 3-5 years ago? I don’t follow closely enough or am not familiar enough with the catalogue to really have any meaningful thoughts but what’s the chance of more faux patina or vintage inspired watches? That to me seems more likely than Patek t... 

Therefore I think it is reasonable to assume we get new stainless steel Calatravas. I also think dial colours would be beyond opaline, perhaps a blue dial.

If the 5212a had been exactly the same but with just time and date (and not handwritten bits obviously) i would buy in an instant. I think the concern from a business standpoint is that once you introduce steel, you cannibalize your precious metal turnove... 

A move to more casual makes sense as well.
