on a 3940 once. Sold as new and single sealed. I asked specifically if it was first seal and unworn. This New York seller never replied even after asking a couple of times. I smelled a rat and asummed it was sealed after a service to pump up the price for a used watch. So there is no doubt that you must ask the seller to let Patek verify and somehow safeguard your deposit if there are any doubts.

If the watch is extremely limited, I guess the retail price is kind of irrelevant. What matters is whether it's at a fair market price.

I bought last year
a 5450P. The watch was double sealed and I paid around 50% premium compared to the original price. Taking into account that I missed the original offering, I think a made a fair and good deal. Best, Kari
