Horology philosophy 101
A great question but in the end it comes down to personall choice,
However I suspect the price range of this piece still puts it way above the average ( or even above average collector) and is aimed at the serious collector- who would look at this piece as a serious compromise to his/her collection.
I for one would not be happy with such a modified piece.
( I am currently looking at a piece with a dial which is not mentioned on the extract and even that concerns me- even though the dial is an original PP dial from the atelier)
I think evevery collector looks at the piece and decides how uch they are prepared to compromise.
Some collectors would not buy a piece that was not pristine wih alll origianl paperwork and boxes, whereas others would be happy with a good condition piece that was not molested , whereas some others would be happy to buy a redialed piece and wear it
It all comes down to persoanl preferences.
I for one would not be happy with a piece that had a modified case- even it was going " cheap"
