Hello fellow members…
I have a question about gold watch cases and I know this is the place to get the answer. Can steel tension pins (quick Change) in the watch strap be used? I am more concerned about keeping the strap securely attached to the watch than scratches to the inside sides of the lugs.

i posted this question on another forum before. seems like most say to use gold on gold, steel on steel. but its odd some brands match and others use steel for gold cased watches

Yes, virtually all spring bars are steel and can be used on gold watches
In my opinion, the likelihood of wear is slim, UNLESS you change watch straps constantly, OR if you have an expansion bracelet with ends that have springs pressing against the inside of the lugs. I have changed bracelets and straps on dozens of gold watch...

Gold and steel don’t really react with other
Bronze and steel is a different story, but you are good. I use a strap with steel quick-release spring bars on one of my gold watches with no issues

that’s good to hear. I was excited thinking about the new straps I ordered then the question of steel and gold popped into my mind.

You are far more likely to scratch the lugs with the tool used to depress the tension bar anyway, so the bar material is moot, practically speaking.
