Glad I could help Twom...
I know a lot of times these forums are the only place were we can read the opinions of other people with our same passion, and im glad my post could help you with your choice.
There are several reasons for my having chosen the slate grey dial. It was the original slate dial that made me first fall for the 5960P, so as long as I've dreamed of the 5960 I only imagined it with the grey dial. I also find that the way the bezel tapers inwards makes it appear at little smaller than 40mm on the wrist, and a dark blue dial would only make the watch appear smaller on the wrist IMO. Lastly the mono counter is IMO the most distinctive feature of the 5960, and I feel that the mono counter on the slate dial stands out a little bit more.
As for your tough choice, i think the 5960 is the most versatile of them all. My choices would be 5960P, 5170, 5980R, but you cant wrong with any of them.

You got two excellent chronos.... As you said, 5070 is a classic..... 5960 is a modern step for PP.... the best of both worlds...... It is great getting your dream watch...... I wonder, why do you prefer the new clasp to the older calatrava cross? Which i...
For my taste I guess....

I had no issue with the diameter of the 5167, it was the height of the case that i couldn't used to. On my wrist it just lacked any kind of presence. I really liked the case with all of its different angles (even more than the nautilus) but in the end it ...

The point I was trying to make was that other Pateks in the Past have been almost strictly for a more mature aged man. The colors of dials, the thin cases, and smaller diameters, wouldn't appeal so much to the younger generation (like myself) who have got...

... is a real beauty ! That champher around the bezel is a brilliant design feature to make the overall appearance of the case look small. The whole concept of the watch works very well and your choise in platinum is also on of the best choices, if you wa...

Hi Roger The 5960 is also my grail watch, I am dreaming about it night and day. I am saying to myself, I will have it one day! Out of interest, how long did it take for you to move from the 5167 to 5960 and there are the 5070 and 5980 in between? Regards

I first became REALLY interested in the 5960 in late 2006. Once I took an interest in PP I just knew I had to have one. Since I couldn't go right for the 5960 I began looking for an alternative. I believe I purchased the 5167 in late 2007, so from purchas...
