IMO there are 2 types of Patek owners. First are the practical people - I include myself to this group- who are impressed by Patek and use them in their daily lives. They have few Pateks for various occasions and wear them regularly. Their Pateks show signs of wear and tear - good for them as life is too short to delay this type of pleasure. Then there are owners who are OBSESSED by Pateks. These owners are never satisfied by their collections and want MORE, MORE and MORE. Often their Pateks remain in sealed boxes, stored in vaults, so the watches dont see the light of the day. Speculators who collect Pateks also belong this latter group because their motivation is money, and they are also never satisfied with money. Frankly, I dont like the second group of Patek collectors because their insatiable apetite render certain models, e.g. 5131, inaccessible to us. What a shame, but that is the world we live in.

Watches are meant to be worn and enjoyed.... I do understand though why some people choose to buy Patek watches as an investment..... However their transaction is purely a monetary one and not horological.... It is like having a great painting and storing...
