Dear Patekova,
I’ve been able to try on the currently available variants of the 5396: the rose gold and the white gold with baguette indexes (5396R-011 & 5396G-017). Even if I really like the case profile, I’ve had mixed feelings. The rose gold case appealed to me the most, but I liked the silver dial less than the dark blue one of the white gold variant. So, overall, I found the white gold variant more attractive, but the problem is that I’m not truly attracted to white metals. As irrational as it may seem, the model with which I really fell in love, unexpectedly, was the rose gold bracelet Golden Ellipse, ref. 5738/1R. This one really caught my heart quite deeply (and its price is almost identical to the one of the 5396R). Just my reaction of course, which might seem crazy and which I wasn’t expecting. But, to be perfectly honest, I would have been very happy to leave the Salon with such a stunning watch. Best, Emmanuel
PS: just to let you feel how much I liked the bracelet Golden Ellipse, I also tried on the leather strap Golden Ellipse, the 5231G, the 5270J and the incredible platinum split seconds chronograph 5370P.

These are really nice.. my preference would be the ones with hour indices but without the date ring I wonder how does one set the perpetual calendar function without the leap year indicator?

Very sharp shot of the 5320, which is a very beautiful perpetual calendar.
Among the little details I particularly like is the way the crown is slightly recessed into the case. And of course, the stepped bezel and lugs are fantastic. Have a nice Sunday.
