I had been looking for a nice 3940G for quite some time. Some weeks ago a nearby opportunity arose and when I tested it on my wrist I was lost! Rather than doing a cash deal I decided to reduce my collection at the same time which had grown beyond "wearab...  

that these two pieces indeed give one the feeling of completeness. I can't help but notice that in the first 3940G picture the leap year indicator is a bit off. We are in year 3, which is correct and it is 27 December. The little indicator hand should be ... 

But the watch is from 2007 so it may need a service.

Only the first series 3940s , and some of the second series 3940s had a "fixed" jump-year indicator. The later 3940s, and in fact if you sent a first series in for service, were "upgraded" to sweep year... so if its December, it should be very close to th...

....yes, sometimes that consolidation process is very healthy. Only time will tell if you made the right choices, but i suspect you did. For me, that 3940 is just beautiful......i have long admired it. Congratulations to you. Joe

My 3940 dates from 2007 and is the only I have seen with the dark shading around the 24h-scale. Was this a feature of very late 3940?

Both movements are cal. 240 and I am a big fan of this in all of its forms. Best, Kari

Just curios. Any reason why you changed out the folding buckle for a tang buckle?

I like to spread my 3940 on the table while working, so that I can look at it in all its beauty. With a folding buckle, you never can spread it as perfectly as with the tang buckle.

The leap year indicator is oh so very slightly off. You need to look at it from straight above and with good glasses (or younger age), but it is a fact. I guess the indicator will enter the leap year sector with the switch to February. There is a service ... 

I love the font style used for the indications on the Perp Calendar, very easy to read and it looks just great! I don't know much about this reference but it has piqued my interest. Enjoy it in good health!

The dark section on my am/pm indicator makes reading the day quite difficult at times. However, as it is a rare configuration I do not complain! Enjoy your lovely perpetuals!

Hi Anatol, I actually find the discoloured patina interesting. Some people actually search for this characteristic, makes the dial rarer (like the "ghost" bezels on some of the vintage sports Rolexes). I dont have the proble Of not being able to read the ...

Mark, it is a watch that you grow to like more and more every time you wear it. I would eventually like to get an R too sometime down the road but this year will not be reasonable for me to spend more on watches. But yes, I would like to have all 3 metals...

Your 3940 has more symetry to the current 5140. Just my opinion. Both wonderful Pateks. The power reserve moon nautilus , slim and elegant. Cheers. Geross
