Patek Philippe gave me plenty of time to photograph their watches this year. Unfortunately they didn't give me plenty of watches.
I was not shown the full range of new offerings - which is unfortunate, as I would have liked to bring you images of all their 2009
releases.
No 5074P perpetual calendar minute repeater with black dial. No platinum/rose gold Celestial. No 5970P with black dial. No 5098
Chronometro Gondolo in rose gold. And none of the "art" pieces so stunningly displayed in the exterior windows. Clearly I was not
considered worthy to be graced with the privilege of seeing these important pieces.
Perhaps after they see this post, Patek might rethink their policy...and hopefully next year, they will deign to make all their new
offerings available for my perusal...and your appreciation.
As it happened, I may have proven myself unworthy in any case. My flash ran out of batteries just as I was trying to get a shot of
the 5101R ten-day tourbillon in rose gold. All I can tell you is: it's beautiful.
Aaargh...probably the pick of the bunch for this year, and...no shots.
Sorry, everybody.
OK, here's what I did manage to capture...
First up, the PP4897 ultra-thin ladies' Calatrava, newly cased for this year in rose gold with chocolate brown dial.
This exquisitely beautiful watch features a rear sapphire, through which can be admired its cal. 215 movement, an oldie but surely a goldie.
With a case diameter of 35mm, a diamond-set bezel, and a quartz movement, the Aquanaut Luce ref 5087/1 is clearly pitched at the ladies.
Mounted on a steel bracelet, this watch comes with a choice of black or silver dial.

Three years after the introduction of the updated Nautilus range for men, comes an entire new ladies' Nautilus collection.
Case diameter at widest point is 32mm. The diamond-set varieties (ref 7010/1) have 60 diamonds around the bezel. With
these can also be purchased a matching ring (seen at far left in the display box).

The new white gold World Time watch (ref 5131G-001) differs from its predecessor in featuring the opposite side of the globe
on its cloisonné dial. Is this Patek's subtle nod to the gradual realignment of economic power the world is currently witnessing?
The quality of Patek's cloisonné work is easier to appreciate up close.
The new extra-large men's Aquanaut released in 2007 is now made available in rose gold with a chocolate dial and matching rubber strap.
And here's the rose gold version of the ref 5960 chronograph.

I only wish I could have finished with some spectacular close-ups of the tourbillon on ref. 5101! Ah, mea culpa...
Cheers
Tony P
