Aquanaut complication
Certainly I'd agree that Patek look to limit their complications to the noble materials but at the same time they have executed complications in steel cases such as the 5712 Nautilus beautifully, giving functionality whilst maintaining the look and slimline profile of the watch.
We definitely couldn't expect grand complications in these steel pieces but in addition to the Chrono thought I had, wouldn't a moonphase in the centre of the date subdial in a 5164 sized case look wonderful?

someone who has the same question I have always had with Patek. There lower end watches are too small for the big guys. 42m would be almost perfect especially on the Aquanaut.

Patek is producing maximum 20% of their output in steel. My understanding is that they prefer to place the complications mostly to watches made of "noble" material. The problem is that PP can't make everything to everybody and many additional complicated ...
