An ugly watch!! Not! :-)
On one of my late night/early morning incursions into the used market on the internet, I came across this lovely vintage ref 2482 from 1955 in rose gold and in quite excellent condition. It measures 36mm so it was quite large for 1955 but in line with current trends. I asked a couple of my friends what they thought and they swooned over it encouraging me to buy it as it was allegedly gorgeous. Yes, this watch is so me but what concerned me was that this watch was selling for almost double what other ref 2482s had been selling for. Yes, from the photos the condition of this watch is its selling point but I am trying to be rational in this irrational passion of ours. Boy, that is sooo difficult!! Yes my friends, it is singing to me too loud and clear but I feel one has to be a little careful and astute in the world of vintage watches. Your thoughts and feedback are most appreciated.

Never mind about their dodgy sales tactics
I would be more worried about the history of the watch. It is a lovely watch but for me customer/ after sales is everything. A bad one can ruin the product completely. You may be lucky and find one of these from a private owner.

No accent over the middle E of GENEVE, but the others I looked at are also lacking this. When did Patek start with the accent (like on the 2526)?

but not all vintage watches even with their original dial have an accent over the middle e of Geneve. I discovered this when I bought one from 1943 without the accent too and it was definitely the original dial ...
I must confess
I actually have no idea because I have been told that it was not so much when they started it but they had it on some collections and not others.

Perhaps vintage watches are just not for me as I like my watches to look 'as new' if possible.
