both models are attractive so it's very difficul to say which is the "better" watch.

but as for demand, there's far greater demand on 5960P.

IMHO this's because:

1. simply 5960P is only 1 year old whereas 5070 is 8.
2. due to its size, there's limited number of wrists which 5070
    perfectly fits. asia, which currently has growing demand for
    patek has smaller wrist so 40mm of 5960 is perfect.
    situation is just the same with 5980, which is also 40mm
    without "wings".
3. platinum issue. think about possible price of "5070P".
    platinum is always the "rarest" patek, and it's important
    that patek introduced new chrono in plat, not in RG/WG.
    IMHO, patek themselves gves higher position for 5960P
    than 5070 in their Hierarchie, at least for the moment.
4. at the end of the day, do you think patek would introduce
    their own chrono unless they believe it's best in the world??

hmmmm... maybe 5070 is the best manual chrono,
and 5960 is the best auto chrono. 

both sides receive equal punishment. ha!

anyway, i received 5960P today, which makes mono-counter chrono duo with my 5980!

Why does the 5070 seem to be more desirable by PP lovers than the 5960p? From my vantage point, it would seem that the 5960p offers more in value. It is platinum, has more than one complication, is automatic, and has a PP movement. The 5070 is manual, has...

I own both a 5070G and the 5960P. I actually like the "warmer" more casual look of the 5960P. I also think the 5070 looks a little too big - or out of proportion. However, can't disagree wtih the comments on the movements.

but given the choice between the two - I find 5960 more attractive and a tremendous value (also when comparing to 5070)...although IMO these watches are somewhat apples and oranges - despite being both Patek chronographs. 5070 is such a beautiful classic ...

I have read many post about patek 5070, i do agree that this is a stunning watch, in terms of looks and its chronograph, and not forgetting its a Patek Philippe. But has anyone thought of comparing a 5070 with a vacheron Chronograph ?? What sets these two...  

Is this a vintage Vacheron or a historique chronograph?

I can't tell from this angle. I love the vintage chronograph and I do think it is better than the 5070.As for historique chronograph, I find the pusher too square and 'cute' and that disturbs me alot.Otherwise, it is GORGEOUS !!!Overall, I thin the 5070 i...
