Patek Philippe

As a relatively new enthusiast, I thought I might show you my watches - and perhaps also get your thoughts on the future.

I bought my first Patek Philippe about eight years ago, a 5146J. I imagined at the time it would be the only luxury watch I'd ever own - a famous brand, a classical look, interesting and useful complications, but also versatile enough to go with a suit or smart casual dress.

Then last year I was given the chance to buy an Aquanaut. I see on this board that people often use the phrase "the photos don't do it justice". This was certainly the case with the 5168G. When it first handed to me by the sales assistant, it was a real wow moment.

It so happened that late last year I was in Geneva, so I was able to take a museum tour. This helped me really appreciate what watchmaking and PP are all about. I was especially taken by the world time complication, and have spent the last few months looking at the different models and working out what might be right for me.

This led me to my newest watch, a pre-owned 5130G. I chose the 5130G mainly on grounds of legibility. Of all the world time designs I saw (including several non Patek models), the font size and spacing on the 5130G stood out for being easiest to read. The dark hands on a light-coloured dial also help a lot.

So here we are. I suppose I see myself acquiring a couple more watches over the next 5 years. My favourite model in the current collection is the 5326 - I'd be interested to know what people think of this watch, both in its own right and alongside my existing watches. 

Thereafter, I would like to own one grand complication. The 5270 stands out to me right now, but maybe one of the original releases rather than the current colour combinations.
