5980R-001 composite strap
Going back and forth on this piece.
My most regularly worn pieces are the 5960P-001 and 5712/1A and contemplating adding a summer watch. Up for consideration are 5960/1A, 5712R, 5980R, and 5980/1A-014. Now the first 2 are metal variations of what I already have so somehow trying to resist. In the meantime considering the wonderfully yet brash 5980R, feels like a natural complement to my 2 regulars. I have owned a 5980/1A-001 in the past and miss it from time to time but let it go to make space for the 5712/1A as they felt too similar in dial color and bracelet. I love the water resistance and sporty look of this reference. The white dial version is tempting as well but somehow somewhat more drawn to the 5960/1A for a white dial.
Now here is what I am curious to know if anyone here has any feedback on. How does the 5980R wear on the composite strap?
Years ago I had a 5711G which I wore on the composite strap and that worked well. However as this strap is reasonably stiff and does not mold to the wrist the way a leather strap does was thinking the heft and height of the 5980R might pose a problem in comfort. If anyone here has any experiences or thoughts would be keen to read. For a summer watch the composite strap is really of value as hot and sweaty summer days call for pool or beach time. Any thoughts or feedback most appreciated!

Highly recommended and the composite strap is soft and very comfortable to wear. No problem with the hot, wet summer.

I have a good bunch of Patek

5980R is gorgeous
Sorry for my late reply. The 5980R is a bit top heavy but it doesn't bother me. The composite strap is very comfortable. The watch wears very differently than the steel one. 5980R is way more substantial on wrist. Hope this helps.

This is the watch to go! Congratulations! You will never get bored of it. Many ppl think a Nautilus should be on bracelet. But, 5980R and 5712R can easily stand on their own.
