Patek Philippe

Hi All, This is my first post on the forums! After a few visits to the local ADs, I've narrowed down my choices to the following pieces. Although they are quite different from one another, I feel that either one would make a great choice for my first Pate...  

I would got for the 5960, since the annual calendar seems to be important for you, and this dial is superb. Best! Nicolas

It seems you prefer white metal, that is all I know so far. All the references have pro´s and con´s, but in general you won´t go wrong with any of those. The most important thing (at least to me) is how it feels on your wrist and which one makes you smile... 

Hi Oliver, Thank you for the welcome message to the forums. I have tried all of the pieces on and I'm very pleased with the feel / appearance of all four. I'm going to take a friend to the AD next time to offer an additional opinion.

To me, PP's annual calendar is just a marketing gimmick to boost more sales by creating a cheaper product below perpetual calendar watches. I wouldn't even bother to consider any of the above. In fact, I have got rid of most of my annual calendar pieces. ... 

Annual calendars have to be set 1 time per year. It takes 0.5 minutes. That means per 525,600 minutes, you have to spend 0.5 of them setting the piece as opposed to 0.0. Annual calendars have excellent readability for the most part, unlike the 5140. I don... 

Thanks for the additional insight! I really like the 5960 with the blue dial, but I'm not a fan of the blue strap. Are there any other strap combinations that you have seen that work well with the blue dial?

I own it. It is the most beautiful and classic of the bunch and I do SMILE whenever I have it on and look at it!! To me, its one of the sharpest looking models with the dial look and the visable movement. As others have said these choices are all what you...

Joel, I recently bought my first Patek as well. I'm in mid-30s, technology startup, casual office environment. I went with the Nautilus 5726 Annual Calendar as my first Patek because it's sporty but subtle. Last week, I bought the 5960P-015 (the blue one)... 

NYCBrose, I also considered the 5726, but my friend has that model and I could not bring myself to buying the same piece as him. Did you end up keeping the blue strap on the 5960?

I don't know anyone named Joel so I'm going to assume your friend isn't me =D I kept the blue strap, but I also have a black one. I have to say the blue is a little bit tacky, especially in sunlight.

four, I would select the 5170. I always try to think beyond what I like today and look forward to what would please me 10-20 years from now. There are a lot of folks who will buy a piece and in a few years, roll out and get something else until they final...
