5153 Beijing edtion

Hi Patek Purists,

To my pleasant surprise, shortly after attending the Beijing Maison opening ceremony in late May, the Maison manager Emily told me that 5153 Beijing Edition had arrived and that an allocation had been made to me.  I had a choice of selecting either the J or G.

In my previous post about the ceremony, a photo containing both the G and J on my wrist was shown.  At that point, I felt that the J looked better when I held it in my hand, but G on the wrist was nicer.

Choosing between the two was a difficult task for me because they are quite different and each has its advantages.  It took me half an hour to decide on the G, and Emily was very patient with me and gave me great advice!!                                                                                .

Here some observations:

• 25 pieces in G and 25 pieces in J with special engraving of the Beijing Maison at the back of the officer case
• Both metals have black leather straps.  According Emily, since the dial on the J is black and white, a black strap therefore matches better than a brown strap
• The Brequet numerals rise above the dial and give a good 3D effect
•  The feel is totally different between this 5153 Beijing version vs the 5153 regular production (which in itself is a great looking piece).
