Dear watch enthusiasts. For a while I have been in a search of a personal grail. I suppose the Patek Philippe 5101 could be it.
What I liked about the watch:
- true art deco styling with unique case shape
- extremely understated
- decoration of the movement is possibly the best that PP has ever produced
- possibly very comfortable due to its narrow shape (just my guess)
Things to consider:
- case could easily be 1-2 mm thinner as there is a big gap between the dial and hands
- no shock protection and 2/3 of the movement is covered (getting Lange vibes)
- maybe overpriced or over produced
- in the last 20 years watch industry has advanced a lot and there are competitors with more interesting movements’ architecture and other perks
If you have or had this watch I would be happy if you share your experience with it. What do you like about it; what issues does it have? Maybe you have an interesting story of this watch you would like to share.
