Time for PP service …
It happened to my 5990 (though it’s a vertical clutch vs lateral clutch on 5170). Sent it in for service and it’s all good. It will cost you both money and time (9 months in my case) for the service.

Is the watch fully wound again before you re-activated the chrono function?
Given the chrono has been running for awhile before your notice, it may just be a power issue? Hope all the best!
Have you been using the chronograph function often?
I was told running the chronograph often could damage the CH 29 - 535 movement. It is only a few weeks out of warranty and Patek will put it right for you
A Patek training manager in the UK advised me not to run the chronograph permanently/often as it will cause premature wear of the movement.
That applies only to manual winding chronographs and not to self winding chronographs.
This movement has a lot of issues according to my watchmaker.
I'm sure Patek will take care of you.
