Fantastic collection...

Plain to see you're someone who likes their chronographs! I fall into that category too, I had the 5170G (white dial) and sold it to fund my 5270R yet there's a part of me that misses it so much that I'm thinking of adding it back again yet I'd want a pristine if not NOS example.
I also concur with patrichh, the 5975 is special, I bought the R mainly because of the case design, it's divine!

A „long term comparision“ - 5170g vs 5170p vs 5172g
By: nafetS : November 29th, 2020-03:44
What‘s better to do on a sunday morning, than spending time with one‘s favorite hobbies. I‘ve seen questions regarding the comparision of these timepieces from time to time, so I thought I might write down my experiences after spending a longer time with ...
Great review, nafetS!

Thanks a lot for this. I love those reviews that describe the character of a watch, instead of describing their features and properties. Even if by nature, describing the character of a watch is always subjective, to me this is what it comes down to! Ther...
Actually it’s more that I love the VC Cornes de Vache so much

I think the 5170 to be executed very well, but I would have liked a bit more personality. However, I understand this is also a quality (being understated), especially for the 5170g. You described it very well.
No bad choices here

Merely matters of personal preferences. Enjoy!
Great review, nicely described as very accurate.

I agree with your opinion on all three references. For me personally the top is the 5170G, because as you said, it’s the most mature and restrained with the punch for the trained eye. For me it’s the watch that when in your wrist, makes you fit in every e...
wonderfully defined each of these versions !

my personal fav is 5172G, as you've mentioned have a tinge of sportyness or non-serious in nature !! you've well captured the essence of them. Best, mahesh.,
Thank you

What a terrific write up!

Your observations are spot on. Of the three the 5172 does have slightly more appeal, as it’s a formidable piece yet doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Great post!

I bought a 5170P a few weeks ago, but I can't get the 5170G out of my head and I don't have the budget for both. I like the description you made of the G and I think it's the watch I would get more long term enjoyment out of. It's more refined, more flexi...
Thank you! And congratulations to your 5170p and welcome to the board.

P or G is definitely not an easy choice, I wouldn‘t know, which one I‘d sell first, if I had to. On the other hand, if I‘d only have one and could only have one, I‘d probably stick ith the one I already have until I‘m completely sure I wanted to change. ...
great review and comparison

even if I like the 5170 case design and your 2 models in G & P, I admit that the 5975P case design should be a great addition to your comparative post/ collection. My 2 cents. Enjoy your beauties +++++ ...

love the 5270R

the white dial of the 5170G is too clinic/boring to me, but love their Breguet markers. So, my bespoke=compilation of my tastes ;-) www.watchprosite.com
