Don't do it.

Send it to patek.  I had my 5035 serviced by my local AD.  Yes, I wanted a long long time, but glad that I did.  My AD guy showed me about 5 pateks that he had sent in from other customers and the feedback that he had received from them.  Shockingly, patek knows when a watch has been opened by an unauthorized technician.  Insane isn't it?  I recall a few were obvious because there was rust forming in the movement due to inadequately removing and installing the watch case.  Also some technicians leave love marks behind on the movement or the case during the service.  Unless your AD's repair guy used to work for patek or the big boys, I wouldn't mess with it.. just wait.  Patek will know!

Nautilus 5711 Rotor Stuck

 By: temps111 : August 6th, 2014-22:26
Hi all, I have been a passive reader of this site for quite some time now. Today I am reaching out to all of you because I recently encountered a problem with my Nautilus 5711/1A. I purchased this watch just a little under two years ago and wore it in ext...

Why not, if his watchmaker is good? After all, your watch will soon be out of warranty.

But, on another side, it is Patek problem and it is up to them to solve that. I will let Patek take care of that. Even if it takes more time. Best, Nicolas

You never know what will be found inside

Thus, I would accept waiting a bit longer but being sure that the watch is well repared (even though I don't know if the problem will be taken under warranty or if they could say it's been damaged for other reasons...).

Agree.....

......plus you will get a further 12 month Patek warranty if they do the repair.........

Would you give your Bentley to your local garage?

If yes, go to your AD if no...

Look at it this way

Be thankful this problem happened while still in the warranty period. I would let Patek take care of it. Then you have their warranty for at least another year on the repair! Best, Nat

+1 ;) [nt]

Rotor repair

 By: Rick C : August 7th, 2014-09:48
Hello in my opinion wait as there is no place better than to send to it Patek, especially under warranty. I wouldn't consider sending anywhere else. :)

Patek without a doubt.

wonder if Patek will extend the warranty by ONE year since their normal service warranty is one year from date of service.

Thanks everybody

and it has an upside: it will be great wearing it again after a long time waiting!

you are doing the right thing because...

you paid the premium for a Patek and part of the premium is for the premium after sale service !!

since it has been working fine for almost two years ....

If it were me - I would give the watch a couple of good shakes and that may get the rotor moving again. Try a couple times and that may do the trick. If it does just monitor the reserve hours for several days to make sure it operates according to the spec...

Gave it a good shake

The rotor moved to a different position. Now it moves but doesn't do a full rotation, Looks like something is stuck. This has never happened to any of my other Pateks, very odd.

What if the problem is more than just a misaligned rotor?

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : August 8th, 2014-01:58
in that case you'd be happy (I guess) if Patek would take care of that. Also, isn't the joy of reunion something to look forward to ;-)? Cheers, Magnus

Definitely Patek to service

 By: lobo : August 8th, 2014-10:39
As mentioned by other forum members, Patek would be the best palce to service. 1. It probably should not be sent back to Switzerland to be serviced but to the local regional service department, which might be quicker. 2. The issue could be more that what ...

Without a doubt

No hesitation I would send the watch to Patek, if you would ever think of selling such watch with third party repair. I'm quite sure it would hurt resale value, just have faith in Patek & send it in for service. She will come back brand new for you.

Got the watch back from HSWA a while ago

 By: temps111 : June 7th, 2015-20:08
Turned out to be a bigger problem than I thought. The dial shifted and jammed the rotor, so it had to be replaced. On the bright side, its as good as new again. ...

you live near the beach?

 By: benzng : June 18th, 2015-16:50
that would be a dream for me to live near clean pristine waters of the sea. someday oh and a patek 5711 too :)

Yep! :) [nt]

You state that you have some warranty left

 By: TS1987 : June 8th, 2015-07:20
and this is why you have warranty. Use it before you lose it. Repairs are guaranteed.

Warranty didn't cover this

 By: temps111 : June 8th, 2015-21:35
Upon examination it was determined that the damage was caused by trauma. Which is weird because I never dropped the watch. Anyways, I ended up paying 2 grand for the repair.

Well,....maybe the "trauma" was you shaking the watch with the frozen rotor :-(

 By: joejeweler : June 10th, 2015-10:21
Just a thought and not trying to bust your B***s,....but for others this might just save you $2,000.00 if something like this happens to your watch. I would NEVER have given a "good shake" to a high precision watch with an obvious "stuck" part! (especiall...

golf anyone?

 By: watch-er : June 11th, 2015-12:47
I do not know if you play golf but this is the type of damage I would expect to see from wearing a self-winding watch while playing golf. Never understood while people do that with expensive self-winding watches. Tears up the rotor in short order. Especia...
