Patek Philippe

Any estimates how many 5370P before it was discontinued?

The fact that it has a black enamel dial is one factor that should have limited the number of 5370Ps that could have been made.  Supposedly black enamel is especially hard to make, and enamel is almost a lost art, with only a handful of artisans who are sufficiently skilled in the world.  Split second chronographs are among the most difficult complications, so that is certainly limiting, though I think it's the enamel dial that is more limiting.

Anyway, here's my guess.  It was made for 5 years, and I believe I heard there were 5 people who could make the dials, and they could each make one every 2 months (this is just from memory and I can't recall where I learned it).  So, that would suggest 150.  There are currently 15 I see on sale.  So, that would be roughly 10% of the total on sale, which seems about right.
