How big is the Parmigiani "Kalpa XL"?

I took the plunge on a Kalpa XL a few months ago. I was not able to see the watch in person prior to the purchase but plowed ahead anyway in spite of concerns I had about case shape and size and how it would fit on my 18.1cm wrist. I'm happy to report the watch fits beautifully and has become my most frequently worn watch.  Following are pictures to show the wrist fit.

The watch extends fully across the wrist and at close range appears relatively large.

The oversized curved lugs make for a snug fit.  There is little to no empty space between watch and wrist at the strap connection.

Not unreasonably large at all notwithstanding the "XL" designation.

Here are measurements of the Kalpa XL for your reference if you are considering the purchase of one of these wonderful timepieces.  Make no mistake, I have in very short order become a huge fan of the Kalpa XL watch.

Length:  Tip of lug to tip of lug    -    53.0mm

Length:  Spring bar holes to spring bar holes    -    45.7mm

Length:  Centerline of case    -    44.7mm

Width:  Centerline of case    -    37.4mm excluding crown

Lug width:  24.0mm at springbar holes tapering to 23.0mm at lug tips

Thickness:  11.4mm

Thanks for looking & have a good day.

I believe there are more than one smaller versions of the Kalpa, at least including the "Grande" and "Qualite Fleurier." The smaller versions have automatic movements, not the 8-day manual movement. Of course, there are women's models also, but I don't in...

I believe there were versions of the Hebdomadaire in the Kalpa Grande case as well.

Not 100% sure, I‘ll need to dig this up. And then the original one, the Ionica, which was a pretty small package for an 8 days PR. ...

This post is quite helpful. I do feel PF Kalpas hug the wrist quite nicely.

We have not even scratched the surface on the wonderful Hermes made straps many of these models come mounted on.

Well of course the watch comes off for workouts :-)

A year ago I had both shoulders replaced with artificial joints. My workouts since then have been with a professional trainer so the equipment hasn't been used much recently. The surgeries and recovery have progressed quite well and I'm gaining confidence...

I agree. It's my "go to" watch.

I should have ventured into the tonneau case world long ago. I was missing out and didn't even know it. M4
