As always, nicely done case....
The gold one stitch on the strap matches very well as a total....
Three hands version maybe nicer to many, but I like the more gold on this power reserve version - the subdial on 6h is date.
Need very good macro lens to capture the thickness of the silver index as well as the hands and gold power reserve meter, on the black urushi dial....

Gold hands give you the image of Maki-E, which is the art form often used with Urushi (the name of the material)....

Your English is fine, Tomo-san. Very beautiful. But you are right - not easy to tell this is "Urushi". But black and gold contrast is so nice. Three hands must be nice as well....

. . . depths of beauty in urushi. I wasn't planning on getting a Seiko, but it was love at first sight the moment I saw Ken's original thread regarding these limited edition models.

The current Mrs MTF just saw your Seiko Urushi watch and gives her approval.
Enough said!
The watch is Mrs MTF Sealed: a plus.
She particularly liked the oh-so-Japanese understatement of single gold stitch on the leather strap to echo the gold maki-e hands.

Now that we're getting a better view . . .
. . . my appreciation for the dial lay-out of this version has risen. My initial impressions were in favor of the simpler model, but there's something to be said for an expanse of urushi dial uninterrupted by a date aperture.
Most impressive, Ken. Getting both was the right move.

This version has its own strength...
.. like you point out. More gold area (together with white area, white hands) makes it more like "Maki-E" atmosphere...

Looks like there's some real depth to the dial.
What about the movement - is it better finished that most other Presages'? I did notice some striping on the rotor of yours?
If I want one - think I better decide quickly!

... don't expect too much... Not the greatest finish, but at this price point, I am not complaining together with its accuracy....

Urushi Dial has been something I had wanted (Maki-e dial is too expensive for me!) and this was it!
SEIKO's mechanical superiority (price/ performance ratio) and traditional craftsmanship - great combination!

Check out your local SEIKO website and see the news release about it.... Even in Japan, all the ADs are sold out (even the largest got what they submit pre-orders from the prospective buyers, and the late orders are waiting for the second batch, which may or may not come (the Urushi meister can make only 15 dials per day). Some grey dealers still have some (I don't know how they got them!). Power reserve version has more chance - the simple version seems more popular here....
