I was immediately taken by the lustrous gold dial surrounded by the Pepsi bezel, and the large size of the watch compared to most watches back then. When I saw one a year or so ago, I bought the solar reissue/homage and really loved it. Then I thought about buying an original and since then, I learned that Seiko made countless vintage watches in the same period which were a) good looking, b) colorful, c) historical, e.g., a Pogue, Cevert, etc., and d) inexpensive, at least compared to the usual suspects in my collection like Rolex, IWC, etc. So I have become hooked in collecting a bunch of them. But as the saying goes, it’s sort of like death by a thousand cuts! Several moderately priced Seiko’s equals quite a nice Rolex, if you know what I mean! But I am having a lot of fun searching and acquiring these interesting and new to me timepieces, and to me, that’s what this crazy hobby (nice word for obsession) is about, right? Here’s another one that’s inbound. A 6139 example that is literally in almost new condition! How can you not be attracted to this color way? And take a look at the bracelet on this other watch I just bought, one of six razor bracelets Seiko included with its watches in that same period!! How cool is that? 😉🙏
