Out of curiosity because I have two spring driven references, what do you think is going on?

I have had about 10 Spring Drives and never an issue before
Please keep us updates on the process & cost. I have my own Spring Drive - SBGA003 - bought it used so not sure how old it is though I've owned it 5 years. 18 years is a good run...
If you recall I just sent my Seiko spring drive to New Jersey where they also service GS. Maybe you won't have to send it across the pond. I never was able to determine if my Seiko
was worked on in the Seiko area or the GS area in that facility. Both had the same address though so.... ? The charge for a full service on the movement (no polishing) was $575. Of course after adding shipping and insurance I had to pay about $250 more. As far as servicing goes I'd say they got it back to my very quickly!
Has it ever been serviced? Congelated lubricant on the glide wheel could have stopped it
Since it has lower toque compared to a mechanical movement. This can be an issue on normal battery quartz watches too.

As you are aware my moonphase spring drive is about the same vintage and also probably had long periods of "rest" yet it ran flawlessly. But my watchmaker bud noticed it
looked very dry so off it went. The thing about how spring drives work is that they can just keep compensating for aging or absent lubricants, you would know better than I but that's my theory.

It probably died of a broken heart, bypassed so often for newer beauties. A little love should get it ticking again (whoops) gliding smoothly again.

You've had the watch since 2007, it has never been serviced, and after 18 years it stopped? If so, that's pretty darn impressive!!
That’s correct, but if I amortize the estimated servicing costs will come to 10 cents a day

My spring drive
has kinda died too recently. The watch lost 15 mins in a matter of hours so I started checking and saw that the second hand was stationary, when I shook my wrist it started to run again. So it went to Japan, it was a 1 year old SLGA021 Lake Suwa. It was still under warranty. Received it back in 5 months. They never explained what was the issue just said that it was completely overhauled, now it’s working fine. However now I see that Reddit, especially for my watch model, is filled with videos and posts about people complaining the same issue that I had with their watches, with always the same explanation that the watch is completely overhauled, nothing more. Hoping that I won’t have the same problem again.

Probably it is.
Before buying the watch I searched and found that generally spring drive movements were pretty sturdy, that was one of the major reasons for me to decide to buy the watch, so hoping it was a glitch that won’t repeat in the future.
