... the Rolex Tool Watch theme under a very different and little explored aspect. I love your gold Submariner.
I know that to speak of a "Tool Watch" made of gold sounds like some kind of contradiction.
And I accept that for wearing this type of watches for their intended purpose there is no better option than stainless steel. As a matter of fact I have been fond of sport Scuba diving since I was a teenager in the mid 1960´s, and my constant companion has been a Rolex 5513, then a 1680, and lately a 14060M, during my circa 50 years in this amazing sport.
But I also ask myself: how many pilot´s, diving and explorers´ watches are actually being used for its intended purpose?
What about gold Rolex tool watches then? Well... I must say I like them very much. I surely wouldn´t choose any of them for a demanding sport activity like Scuba diving, but I view them as a charming option for sport use.
Yes, I know some people associate them with bling or with bad taste exhibition or with what we call down here "a new rich syndrome". But I don´t personally view them this way.
These watches work specially well with a nice set of leather straps, with jeans and specially in summer with a good tan on your arms. They look beautiful!
I would like to share three of my gold tool watches here:
Cordial regards, Abel.
Submariner reference 16808 circa 1987. The amazing blue dial of these Rolex watches is turning to a purplish hue which is evident when natural light reaches it in certain angles. I have seen this color change in several dials of this epoch.

GMT Reference 1675 circa 1970
I got this one without its original gold bracelet. I would like to get a gold Jubilee type for it, but I am happy with its looks with a nice set of vintage looking leather straps. I also would prefer a brown color nipple dial better.

This is a reference 6609 Turn O Graph (a.k.a. Thunder Bird) circa 1960 with vintage leather straps.
