Rolex

Last night my dealer had a preview evening and 4 course meal to preview the new Rolex range....something I was interested in as I wanted to see the new Sub..!!
The head of Rolex UK was there and the whole evening was themed on Pan Am with boarding passes issued on arrival and the shop turned into an airport lounge, models handing out canapes and champagne....they always go the extra mile for these events which are always amazing.

Any orders taken or interest shown will be rewarded with the first ones in the UK so I think this is my birthday present sorted this year..!!

Hope you enjoyed the pics as much as I enjoyed the evening

pity I missed a pic of the 5 models as they were dressed in tiny Pam Am cabin crew outfits..!!  Legs like you wouldn't believe

I know modern Subs aren't quite your thing, but I promise I'll look at a vintage Sub (maybe a 69 year if it was a good one) to partner the new one next...promise..!!

The Xmas doo's are also great as the centre bar area is used for drinks and cocktail staff...I think we polished off at least a 100 bottles of Verve champagne..!!  Great staff too.

certainly the best AD within striking distance! Very nice staff in the Rolex boutique. Nearly bought the 39mm Exp there late last year. I'm not really a customer though as vintage is my thing; so no invites for these dinners :-( The chap I dealt with likes his older Rolex watches though and was quite taken by my Mk 1 Maxi 5513!!

subtle differences but in fact almost every part is different..!!
They updated the Sub with the date last year and have done the same tweaks this year to the Sub without date....so it now has the new case with bigger lugs, new strap with solid links instead of the centre ones being hollow, new glidelock clasp for easy adjustment of the length, ceramic bezel, new face with larger dots, new luminous material which glows blue, and tweaks to the movement including a new non magnetic Parachrom hairspring..!!!

I didn't want the date and was waiting for them to update this model with the new tweaks so you can imagine my joy when this year they did...I text my dealer at the show before he had even seen or heard about it...hence I can have the first one if I want it as they have very good links with Rolex which also got them the first preview in the UK of the new models with the head of Rolex UK being there for the evening.

yeah a few differences - but I love the fact it still looks almost exactly the same.  It's just classic Rolex evolution...although some people didn't like the changes to the date version last year my dealer can't get enough of them and it is their biggest seller by far.  I think they are classed as a Rolex Boutique now after buying the shop next door and turning it into a dedicated Rolex shop/boutique...that was another great party for the opening evening last year..!!

The new bracelt with extra weight helps it sit better on the wrist, my GMT does slip round sometimes which is a bit annoying.  Like you say the glidelock clasp is just genius to alter the length on those hot or cold days.

This is to be the new daily beater then get the GMT serviced and now I know how much that one is worth since I bought it it'll be looked after a bit better..!!

Just watching the Moto GP...far more fun than the Formula 1.  If you can get tickets to watch one live let me know and I'll come join you
