Thanks, Bill.
It is interesting to see that the advertisements captured online are different from the print adverts of my youth.
Before the InterWeb, adverts were very specific for location and demographic. I lived in Asia then. Local ads were different from those on the back cover of imported magazines like Readers Digest, TIME and NewsWeek.
80% off the time, we did not know the "famous" people used by Rolex; although they were experts in their field, they were not universally known by the general public e.g. Who was Wally Herbert?
Leaving aside the universally famous like James Bond, Elvis Presley and Steve McQueen, the adverts that resonated were the ones with 'Aspirational' theme: "If you......"
They let the reader answer the question: "Why?"

Rolex advertising: "If you...."

This is a great collage of ads. Thank you!
The sight of James Bond - 007 (Sean Connery) with his Submariner likely sold as many watches as all the ads combined.
Every red-blooded male out there wanted to be like Bond - rugged, sophisticated and refined - just like the Submariner.
Just one man's opinion.
And June of this year will mark my 50th year with my Rolex. If they would only make a car... LOL
Best regards to all... HEO
