Rolex 5512 gilt 2 vs 4 line black vs brown.
I had an opportunity yo snap a few pictures compaiting two sets of Rolex 5512 gilt watches. Some very attractive pieces. The brown dials require direct sunlight to appreciate them. I know there are two camps of thought one being the perfect black gilt trumps a brown dial the other favors the brown dial. I think both work but as notted sun light is required.

Your 2 browns are top.
The easy answer would be both black and brown. If I had to choose with a gun on my head, I would say your 2 lines brown.

Great collection of 5512's-- they used to be fairly easy to acquire, but
today it's almost impossible to find any as nice as yours--enjoy. HAGWE.
The prices for these bad boys are getting way up there.
However the real delta is quality examples. They are literally double the price.
A 4 line 5512 with no hand drag is a real rarity add the fact that it is a full set. You know where I am going but there are few and far between.
The browns have a lot going for them also when in perfect shape.

Yes, brown. But a 4 line ring with Tulip Rolex crown is very rare. But got it brown is a rarity in a rarity.

A bit late, but hope not too late.. I see it from 2 sides: 1/ perfect black is so pure, a bit bold..2/ the brown renders a sweet charm &
.. a bit more warmth, when the sunlight
plays with the reflections..

Simply both beautiful.
Honestly, I can not choose .... I love too much submariner ref. 5512 Gilt in this beautiful setup.
However, the brown dials that have had the natural color change and did not undergo in time traces of oxidation, water seepage and humidity, have certainly more appeal than others.
I am attaching pictures of my submariners ref 5512 Gilt in a "Chocolate dial" and "Tropical dial" .
