Officine Panerai

Here's a model that you don't see too often. When I first saw it, in the SIHH 2011, I picked up the phone, called the Florence - San Giovanni boutique and booked it immediately. But that was, me since it's a fact that it hasn't made any...impact...in the true blue Paneristi's world. I would have expected the first production run of the 2533 dial, to have caused quite a stirr, go figure. Still and all, when I wear this..lead weight (Anthony'll understand) on the wrist, I just can't stop "oogling" at it. I don't "love" inanimate objects but I sure as hell like it...a lot

Maybe it is because Panerai released another one in SS?

but the "collectors" should have gone "goo-goo-gaa-gaa" about the 373. Instead you can find one...today...in every Panerai boutique, still hahahaha

because I don't see much chatter about this piece.

I think this dial is much better than the Cali dial which received a lot of attention.  Weird.

since it's a platinum case.  I personally like it a lot and love the raised crystal.

surrounding the 373 (although also the 21, as you know, was...murderously...expensive when released, in 1997, at more that 21Millions Liras=11K Euro). Probably the 2533 dial has had, today, the same type of gelid reception it had way back in 1936 which brought to it being...shelved. History repeating itself  

373 and 449 are real beauties.

it's an SLC (Siluro Lenta Corsa=Maialino=Pig). I believe it belongs on a Panerai's dial, the same way marmelade belongs on a...pizza

if historians find out that the first (original) pizza was made with marmelade....? To calm down: I wouldn't be influenced by THIS kind of DNA )

because you CAN put in on a pizza, you just have to...like...the end result. After all, the Hawaian Pizza, with pineapple on it, it's a favourite of many a...foreigner (from the Italian point of view) S.L.C.=maialino (little pig), because they where..fat like pigs, in shape

great taste,even though Pt has little to do with all the Panerai madness,the watch itself has charm ,elegance with that minimal attracting look.

considered   The good thing with Pt vs YG/RG is that it's less conspicuous and bearable. Had it been "coloured" I wouldn't have bought it. 

It was sort of love at first sight for my 289 but the passion quickly diminished.   Somehow the colour tone just didn't work well w/ the style in my eyes.   Anyway, I had similar reservation about the 382 but the rustic look finally won me over...

 

I think it's one of the strongest "statements" of Panerai. I was foolish in discarding this model. Much like the 341 or the 300, the 382 one of the milestones of the house's inventiveness and will to explore all the materials and shapes available. A (non foolish) collector must have one of those.. IMO
