I bought a PAM 111 from an authorized dealer last June. What a mistake! The watch quit working after about two months so I returned it to the dealer. They checked it and said the amplitude was way too high, whatever that means. They sent it to Panerai and they retuned it in about six weeks with no charge but also no explanation of what they had done to it. It quit working again in a couple of weeks so I took it back again. The dealer called me a couple of weeks later and said Panerai had voided my warranty because the watch had been damaged and they wanted $500 to repair it. The watch had never been touched by anyone but me and I know it had never been damaged. I complained to the dealer and they paid the $500 repair charge. The dealer did right by me, but I would never buy any Panerai product ever again. I was too embarrassed to admit to my friends that my $5,000 watch is a piece of junk.

As they say: fair exchange, no robbery. I own 25 Panerais and I have...never....had a problem with any of them. So much so, I'm eagerly awaiting for my 26th (PAM375) the delivery of which, has been delayed. Now what?...

ps Not quite correct, I almost forgot. I had a wee bit of a problem with my PAM36. Wanted to send it in for service and was told that, if they accepted the watch, the would have...disfigured it....due to the Tritium (radioactive) dial that would have been replaced. I told them, thanks a lot, I went to my friendly next door watch repairman that fixed it without a second thought.Thanks Panerai..

It's a shame you feel you had poor treatment, but hand assembled mechanical watches sometimes do fail. And that can be all the way up to the most expensive watches you can imagine. Panerai seem to have a sold a reasonably large number of PAM111's to happy customers without issue. The watch is highly regarded and is considered a classic amongst regular production Panerais.
Maybe your criteria for a mechanical watch are different from those of most people here and we're all missing something. Perhaps you could share your criteria and tell us a little bit about other luxury watch brands you own that you have had no issues with?

Your AD proved his worth. Always a good thing.
Granted it sound like there where some obvious and legitimate issues. But it seem the AD did his job.
It should not happen with a new watch but we are dealing with mechanical watches.
The bottom line is that it should be corrected and it should be up to the brand and the AD to win your confidence back.
I hope this will be the last time it goes back into the shop.
